Synopsis:

"Urmel's Great Flight" (or Urmels großer Flug) is a platformer video game developed by the German studio Sunflowers Interactive Entertainment Software and released for Windows in 1996. The player controls Urmel sitting in the helicopter. The goal in the various levels is to transport Urmel's friends—Wawa the monitor lizard, Ping the penguin, Wutz the pig, and Ophelia Tintenklecks—one by one from one platform to another. The physics here are reminiscent of the 1982 arcade game Joust: gravity constantly pulls Urmel toward the ground, which the player must counter by pressing keys. In later levels, the flying mechanics change temporarily due to wind, whirlpools, or gas clouds, and permanently through magnets or underwater. Additionally, later levels can only be completed by precisely using gliding flight. The total of 100 levels lead through many scenarios known from the stage plays "Urmel from the Ice Age" (1969) and "Urmel Plays in the Castle" (1974): the island of Titiwu, its jungle, the town of Winkelberg, its zoo, and its museum (dinosaur, knight, and Egypt sections), above the clouds, underwater, a swamp, the cave, and the volcano. The game can only be saved after completing a scenario (every 7 to 8 levels). A perfect walkthrough takes about three hours.
